About the Author

WELCOME!

Hello, and thanks for stopping by to learn more about me and the stories I write.

Like most authors, I began writing stories as a child, but for the longest time, thought they were just bits to amuse and share with my friends. Sure, I thought maybe someday I’d pursue publishing, but that never really coalesced – in my mind – as anything permanent.

Then, some years ago while I was working in Georgia, I found other friends who’d often thought about writing too. Why not pursue writing as a profession? So we joined writers’ groups and guilds and associations. Many of them published; I did not, despite positive reviews, awards and two agents.

I decided to throw in the towel, metaphorically speaking. Clearly, my stories – or the way I told them – were not what New York publishers looked for. For two years I didn’t write anything; for the first time in my life, I didn’t have any stories demanding I tell them.

Then, out of the blue . . .  stories began clamoring in my head. I started writing the snippets that rose to the forefront, and committed them to old-fashioned pen and paper. Some months passed. I continued working my day job that had grown increasingly more stressful and demanded more and more of my time. Over the summer, many of those responsibilities passed on, and I was able to enjoy some time abroad with nothing to do but have fun!

When I returned, a long-time friend and fellow writer contacted me with a proposition: let’s write short stories together and publish them ourselves. What freedom! Our own vision for cover art, a story series – without having an editor tell us “No.”

That friend is New York Times-bestselling author Karen Hawkins. The short-story series is the “Wicked Widows,” and the second installment is “The Lucky One.”

I’d love it if you checked it out, and let me know what you think!
